Pair of Graduate Students Win Field Study Awards

Graduate students Jordan Cissell and Brenna Sweetman both recently received student field study awards.

Cissell’s award comes from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) Crocodile Specialist Group.  His research will examine and map habitat changes in the Placencia area of Belize, and how the change has altered the behavior of Belize’s two crocodile species.

Sweetman’s award comes from the Conference of Latin Americanist Geographers (CLAG).  Her research will examine the impact of watershed changes on water quality in a biologically rich coastal ecosystem around Payne’s Creek National Park in southern Belize.
