Former graduate student receives thesis award

Former B.S. and M.S. student Lauren Cox was named the winner of The University of Alabama Graduate College Outstanding Master’s Thesis.  Cox’s thesis is titled “Effects of an Intermediate-Scale Wind Event of Forest Composition, Structure, and Structural Complexity.”  While at UA, she worked with Dr. Justin Hart.

The review committee consists of emeritus faculty and selects only one thesis from the pool of divisional winners.  The award began in 1983, and Cox is the first winner from the Department of Geography.  She is currently a doctoral student at UC Berkeley in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management.
