On Friday, February 23, the UA Department of Geography and the Environment hosted a “Water Policy in Alabama” Workshop in association with The Geological Survey of Alabama, and the American Geophysical Union. The workshop had representatives from Senators Britt and Tuberville’s offices, Westerveldt, and Advanced Resources International who shared their expertise with undergraduate and graduate students from 5 departments and programs across campus. Students learned the importance of effective science policy communication and participated in breakout groups and mock meetings with legislators. The department plans to make this an annual event.
