Alex Fries wins NACIS Student Map and Poster Competition for Best Cartographic Design

Alex Fries, M.S. student in Geography at UA, attended the North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS) conference this past week, October 17-20 in Norfolk, Virginia. Alex entered his map, “Alabama: It’s Landforms and Natural Features” in the Student Map and Poster Competition, won for Best Cartographic Design!

Alex was selected the winner by a vote among all conference attendees, which included students, academics, map librarians, and professional cartographers working in government and private industry. Please join in congratulating Alex on this win!
